OPERATIONAL
GUIDELINES FOR EXAMINATION |
1. A student shall be eligible to appear in examination provided
he/she pursues a regular course of study in respective department
and attends at least 75% of the theoretical, practical, and
sessional classes on an average held during the semester. The
attendance shall be considered from the date of admission of the
candidate in the college.
2. At the end of each semester, there shall be an examination
(hereinafter called end-semester examination) conducted by West
Bengal University of
Technology (WBUT) as per programme announced by the Controller of
Examination of the University.
3. Back paper examination, if any, shall be held with the normal
end-semester examination.
4. A candidate shall be eligible for promotion to the next higher
level if he/she (i) has cleared ALL papers of earlier semesters
individually & (ii) has not been able to clear upto a maximum of 4
papers (counting ALL ITEMS for the two semesters of the level as
units with each SGPA as an item) but has maintained an YGPA of 5 or
above.
5. Eligibility Criteria for Change of Branch
Only those students who fulfil each of the following criteria, shall
be eligible for consideration subject to availability of vacant
seats .
. (i) He/She is a bonafide regular student of the College, has
completed registration formalities with the University and has
attended at least 75% of classes in each theory/practical and
sessional items of the I and II Semester courses.
(ii) He/She has appeared in and cleared each theory/practical/sessional
item of the I and II Semester courses at the first .chance,
(ineligibility/inability to appear in an examination due to whatever
reason, including illness or other
reasons beyond one's control being treated as lost chances).
(iii) He/She has secured an YGPA of 8.5 or above.
6. The evaluation of course items is done as .per the
following guidelines :-
A. THEORY PAPERS
Each item under this classification shall be evaluated on the basis
of scale subdivided into the following two categories'-
i) End-Semester examination : 70 points
ii) Internal Marks : 30 points
The internal marks are to be alloted for the following categories'-
(a) Class Test / Internal Tests: 15 marks
(b) Quizzes and Assignments : 10 marks
(c) Attendance Regularity and Participation: 5 marks
Guidelines
• Students are required to appear in all the Class Tests & the marks
shall be awarded on average basis.
• The course teacher shall conduct at least 2 to 3 unannounced
quizzes during the lecture/tutorial class and suitable number of
home assignments
shall be given.
• Quizzes and Assignments once conducted will not be repeated for
the absentees.
B. PRACTICAL PAPERS
Every item in this category shall be evaluated out of 100 point
scale, divided under two broad categories as detailed below:-
I. End Semester Examination : 60 points
II. Laboratory Sessional: 40 points.
